Jamie Shannon co-created, produced, wrote, directed, and puppeteered the cult Nickelodeon series Mr. Meaty, a surreal gross-out comedy that became one of the strangest and most unforgettable children’s shows of its era. Airing on Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, and CBC, the series followed two teenage fast-food employees trapped in an endless nightmare of meat, monsters, and mall culture. More than 250 custom foam latex puppets were designed and built for the production — everything from tapeworms and yetis to mutant baboons and tar monsters. Initially polarizing, the show has since become a genuine cult favourite online, with fans revisiting it through memes, reaction videos, retrospectives, and horror discussions nearly two decades later. Frequently described as “nightmare fuel” and “ahead of its time,” Mr. Meaty remains one of Nickelodeon’s most bizarre and enduring cult hits.
